History

In the late 1920's, a small paper company went bankrupt and its creditors needed help to liquidate the company's inventories and collect monies owed from its customers.  The creditors turned to Dick Abrams, an employee of the now bankrupt company.  Dick handled the sales and collections in such a way that both customers and suppliers suggested that he open a business of his own.

Selling Packaging Supplies

Following their advice, Dick opened WCP Solutions on March 1, 1930, selling basic packaging supplies such as brown wrapping paper, tying twine and bags to the merchants in Seattle's public markets. From the start, Dick worked with a team to serve customers. Both his wife, Amelia, and a colleague from Dick's former place of employment were active in the business.

Selling to Printers & Butler Paper Franchise

As it goes with good salespeople, Dick and the WCP Solutions team began prospecting for additional business. It was not long before the company began selling packaging supplies to printers. From printer customers, Dick learned about Butler Paper Company and its marketing of "Butler Brand" printing papers. In 1933, with a flight to Chicago and a handshake between Dick and Paul Butler, WCP Solutions entered the printing paper business.

Expansion to Five State Region

The Abrams family second generation leader, R.W. Abrams, built upon this solid foundation. He hired good people who upheld his father's principles and who, in turn, have nurtured strong relationships with the industry's top suppliers, customers, and each other. Under R.W.'s leadership, the company expanded to twelve distribution facilities spanning the five-state region of Alaska, Idaho, Oregon, Northern California and Washington.

Quality Products, Reasonable Prices, Outstanding Service

Dick Abrams' reputation became the platform for more than 77 years of growth and success. The company has evolved over the years. Delivering orders out of the back of a Model A Ford just doesn't work anymore.  But we continue to operate as Dick Abrams did --offering quality products at reasonable prices with outstanding customer service.
